The festival runs from the end of March to mid-April. It is in honor of both American and Japanese cultures. It is a celebration of a friendship forged between the two nations. A friendship that began in 1912 with Tokyo Mayor Yukio Ozaki’s gift of 3000 cherry blossom trees to the United States.
The three-week-long National Cherry Blossom Festival marks the arrival of spring for all the locals.
